Ingredients

  • 360 grams thin cut beef steaks
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp shaoxing wine
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Method

  1. Slice beef into bite sized pieces and cut the onion into slices
  2. Add the beef, green onions and ginger to a pot of hot water and turn the stove on to medium high heat
  3. Once you see that a lot of scum has arisen to the surface, turn off the fire and rinse the beef in a colander. Set aside
  4. Create the sauce by adding soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, shaoxing wine, rice vinegar and cornstarch. Mix well
  5. In a large pan, turn the stove on to medium high heat, add oil and once hot fry the onions until translucent. Then add in the beef and stir fry for a few minutes. Add a pinch of salt for flavour
  6. Next add in the sauce and stir fry for a minute. Add a bit of water to increase the sauce and prevent it from drying out. Cover for 2 minutes to thicken.
  7. Best served with noodles. Enjoy!
